Marketing Executive

Marketing Executive – WHSmith Travel Business

At WHSmith, our people are at the heart of everything we do – they drive growth, deliver outstanding service, and go the extra mile for our customers. We are now looking to appoint a passionate and proactive Marketing Executive to join our Travel Business in a pivotal role.

This highly visible, fast-paced, and cross-functional position is integral to delivering industry-leading travel retail marketing campaigns across our diverse store formats. It is ideal for an organised, detailed, and career-focused individual seeking an exciting environment where they can develop their marketing expertise.


About the Role

** Takahashi ownership of the accuracy, detail, and completeness of our Customer Plan and collaborate with key stakeholders (Commercial & Trade Planning teams) to ensure it remains up-to-date and effectively shared across the business.**

  • Lead travel-specific marketing campaigns, aligning with and supported by the Head of Brand, including:

    • Strategic direction and execution
    • Campaign development and coordination
    • Continuous improvement to drive impact
  • Contribute to flagship annual campaigns such as Christmas, Summer, and Easter, working closely with the Head of Brand and Trade Planning Team to ensure successful delivery.

  • Key responsibilities in campaign coordination:

    • Create and present Campaign Status Documents, facilitating focused meetings and driving action-based progression.
    • Deliver Landlord Campaign engagement documents, meetings, and ensure follow-up actions are timely and effective.

  • Interdepartmental collaboration to ensure seamless campaign execution, liaising with:

    • Marketing functions (creative, social media, digital)
    • Trade Planning & Commercial Teams
    • Landlords & Media Agencies
  • Handle ad-hoc requests from stores and landlords, providing swift, well-supported solutions with guidance from the Head of Brand & Trade Planning Team.


What We Are Looking For

Ideal candidates will bring a combination of:

  • Desirable Experience:
    • Previous experience in Retail Head Office marketing, or a similar fast-paced environment
  • Skills & Qualities:
    • Strong communication & project management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining high standards
    • Proactive, can-do attitude with a keen eye for detail
    • Excellent organisational & multitasking skills, with adaptability to changing priorities
    • Degree educated, or equivalent, with a marketing qualification being highly beneficial
    • Exceptional copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills
    • Ability to build and sustain relationships across diverse stakeholders
