Marketing Lead

Durham Women FC – competing in the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 – are seeking an innovative and results-driven Marketing Lead to join our ambitious team.

You’ll help drive attendances, build out a first-in-class match day experience, support commercial goals and produce engaging social media and digital content for our channels.

💰 Salary: Competitive, dependent upon experience

About the Role

As Marketing Lead, you’ll play a key role in growing our fanbase – implementing plans and initiatives to drive attendance, improve the match day experience and ensure supporter retention.

This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about growing the women’s game and shaping the future of an ambitious football club.

🎯 Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust overall marketing strategy to grow attendances and increase match day revenue.
  • Lead on supporter acquisition and retention - working across social media, email and other owned channels to communicate with the fanbase through graphics, videos, imagery and more.
  • Manage the club’s social media channels, match day publications and official website - ensuring a regular stream of engaging and informative content covering written articles, video, graphics and imagery.
  • Help build on the club’s highly regarded match day experience across digital and in person, contributing new ideas and suggestions to deliver memorable experiences.
  • Support in the club’s commercial aims by assisting in securing new partners and delivering impactful activations.
  • Attend all home and away fixtures to provide coverage for club channels and handle on-site media requests from broadcasters and media.
  • Oversee brand presentation across all channels – both internal and external.
  • Use data and insight to evaluate marketing performance and to inform future decision-making.
  • Maintain strong relationships with club partners, agencies and WSL Football.
  • Manage the recruitment of interns to assist with the above duties, in-line with club policies.
  • Collaborate with other internal teams to ensure the continued success of the club.

🧠 What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field
  • Proven experience in a marketing role, ideally within sport or an entertainment-related field
  • A track record in implementing campaigns that drive engagement or revenue
  • Strong understanding of utilising social media and email marketing systems
  • The ability to handle data to inform decision-making
  • Strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of using a CMS (e.g. WordPress)

Desirable:

  • A master’s degree in marketing or a related field
  • A CIM-accredited qualification
  • Experience of video editing and graphic design
  • Experience of working in professional sport
  • Knowledge of elite women’s football

Please note that the successful candidate will be required to complete FA Safeguarding Qualifications, an Enhanced DBS check and any other qualifications as required by the club or WSL Football.
