The Quran Group - Marketing Operations Lead

The Quran Group is a free online Islamic education CIC teaching 130+ students worldwide. Our marketing team has ideas and content. We need someone to build the operational systems that turn plans into consistent output. Weekly coordination, content calendars, workflow structure.

What difference will you make?

Marketing is the growth engine for a free education organisation. Every new student who joins The Quran Group is a person who otherwise might not have had access to structured Islamic learning, either because they cannot afford it, or because they live in a country where it is not easily available.

Our marketing team already has the creative capability. Where we lose momentum is in the coordination between people, the follow-through on ideas, and the consistency of output. Great content sits in draft. Campaigns start and stall. Meeting decisions get lost between sessions.

A marketing operations lead would change this in three concrete ways.

First

Our output becomes consistent. Instead of publishing when someone happens to have time, we would publish on a rhythm that builds compounding audience growth. Consistency is what turns marketing effort into student growth.

Second

Our team becomes more effective without needing more people. A well-run team of five achieves what a chaotic team of ten cannot. Your role would be the operational spine that lets each team member do their creative work without carrying the coordination burden themselves.

Third

Our decisions improve because we see them. Right now, we do not have a clean picture of what content works, what does not, and why. You would help us collect and read the data so the next quarter's strategy is grounded rather than guessed.

The measurable outcome we would hope to see in 6 months is a doubling of our LinkedIn follower base (currently around 2,000) and a growth in monthly student applications by 50 percent. These are ambitious but plausible with the right operational layer in place.

Beyond the numbers, your work would touch every student who eventually joins because of a piece of content that reached them at the right moment. Someone in Nigeria finding a free tafsir class. A revert sister in the UK discovering our women's Arabic programme. A hafiz in Pakistan realising he can continue his teaching journey with us. Marketing at TQG is not a business function. It is how we find the people we are here to serve.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What are we looking for?

You do not need Islamic knowledge or a background in faith-based organisations to do this role well. You need marketing operations experience.

The right person for this role will have:

  • Demonstrated experience running marketing operations at a small-to-mid-sized organisation, either in-house or agency-side. You have set up content calendars, run editorial meetings, coordinated creative pipelines, and reported on performance. Ideally 3+ years in a marketing coordination, marketing manager, or marketing ops role.
  • Comfort with digital tools. You have used a project management system (ClickUp, Asana, Monday, Trello, or similar) and can pick up ours quickly. You are comfortable with analytics tools (LinkedIn analytics, Google Analytics, Meta Insights).
  • Strong written communication. Most of our coordination happens in writing across time zones. You need to be able to write a clear brief, a useful meeting summary, and a concise weekly update.
  • Cultural intelligence. TQG is a Muslim-led organisation serving a global Muslim community. You do not need to be Muslim yourself, but you should be genuinely comfortable working within an Islamic context and respectful of the mission. If you have worked with faith-based, migrant, or minority-community organisations before, that is a strong bonus.
  • Patience with a young team. Our founder is 18 and this is his first significant leadership role. Most of our team members are volunteering fi sabilillah alongside day jobs. Someone who thrives in tidy corporate environments may find us frustrating; someone who understands mission-led scrappiness will enjoy building alongside us.
  • Reliability. This is the most important quality. We do not need someone brilliant who disappears for six weeks between bursts of activity. We need someone consistent who runs the team's operational rhythm week in, week out. Pro-bono does not mean sporadic.

What Is Nice To Have But Not Essential

  • Prior experience in the charity or nonprofit sector
  • Familiarity with UK Muslim community demographics or Islamic education specifically
  • A network you might be able to introduce us to (potential donors, board contacts, partner organisations)

What we are less interested in

  • Senior marketing strategists who want to advise from a distance. We need someone in the operational trenches with us, not a strategist who dips in once a month.
  • Recent graduates seeking their first marketing role. This is not a training role. We need someone who has done this work before.
  • Anyone who sees pro-bono work as a way to add a charity to their CV without genuinely engaging.

What will you be doing?

The Quran Group is a UK-registered CIC (Community Interest Company) delivering free live Islamic education to around 130 active students across six continents. All classes are free and always will be. We are converting to charitable status this year.

We have built a marketing team over the past six months. It includes a Head of Marketing, a content writer, a video editor, and an SEO specialist. Each of them is talented in their area. What we need now is someone to sit alongside them and run the operations of the team itself.

The role in short you would build and run the systems that turn our marketing ideas into consistent output.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up and manage a content calendar across our channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, Meta, and our YouTube channel)
  • Coordinate the weekly workflow between team members (what is being produced, who is responsible, what stage each piece is at)
  • Track content performance and feed results back into the team
  • Prepare and maintain briefs for creative work so the team is aligned before starting
  • Run the weekly marketing team meeting, keep minutes, follow up on actions
  • Work directly with our Head of Marketing to translate his strategy into a delivery plan
  • Report to our founder monthly on progress and blockers

You would join a small, remote team spread across the UK, Egypt, Tunisia, Pakistan and Sudan. Our founder is 18 and running this while completing his degree at the University of Liverpool. The team is warm, mission-driven, and generally busy with day jobs, which is exactly why we need someone whose specific focus is holding the operational thread together.

We use ClickUp for project management, Google Workspace for documents, and Microsoft Teams for meetings.

Time commitment approximately 4-6 hours per week, with flexibility on when you do the work. Weekly team meeting is on Saturdays at 2pm UK time.

Duration initial 6-month commitment. We would love someone who stays longer, but we understand pro-bono work fits alongside other things.
