£40-£50k
Company Description
Material Index Ltd is a London-based climate-tech startup transforming the built environment through a large-scale material reuse marketplace. Backed by traction with industry leaders like British Land and Wates Group, they are "turning waste into assets" to tackle the 14% of global carbon emissions caused by construction material production.
Location
London, UK
Why this role is remarkable
- Join a mission-driven team working to solve a massive environmental crisis; construction accounts for 50% of UK landfill and 14% of global emissions.
- Influence the growth of a platform modeled after industry disruptors like Vinted and Backmarket, but for the vastly larger construction sector.
- Work directly with prestigious real estate and construction firms including British Land and Derwent London to unlock material supply before demolition.
Job Description
You will lead the development of a category-defining marketplace for reclaimed construction materials. Balancing high-level growth strategy with hands-on execution, you’ll drive supply and demand, onboard key trade partners, and scale user engagement. This is a pivotal role for a self-starter eager to build a sustainable future in a multi-billion-pound industry.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
