The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA)

The IFoA is the UK's chartered professional body dedicated to educating, developing and regulating actuaries based both in the UK and internationally.

The IFoA regulates and represents over 34,000 members worldwide, overseeing their actuarial education at all stages of qualification and development throughout their careers. We set examinations, continuing professional development, professional codes and disciplinary standards for our members.

We are currently recruiting a Markets Support Specialist, Middle East for a Permanent contract.

This role is hybrid, both working from home and in any of our offices.

We encourage our colleagues to work flexibly between home and the hub to suit their needs and preferences, in line with our hybrid working policy.

Colleagues are able to work their hours flexibly, in line with core business hours and requirements. We also offer formalised flexible working agreements.

The starting salary is £34,010

Purpose of Job

The Markets Support Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting the markets covered by the Head of Middle East.

Reporting to the Head of Middle East, the position will assist the region with:

  • Supporting the Head in the organizing and delivery of member engagement and business development and relationship management activities / events across the Gulf or any other country in the Middle East, North Africa, Pakistan and Turkey as designated from time to time
  • Occasional onsite presence at events in their markets of responsibility
  • Acting as a main enquiry contact point for members
  • Overseeing / coordinating member communications
  • Providing administrative support to the Middle East team including minute taking and documentation
  • Stakeholder communication and act as a liaison with Brand and Integrated Marketing for the brand marketing requirements
  • Curating content from IFoA that can be shared with members, stakeholders and by staff on social media and the IFoA Intranet, e.g. LinkedIn posts

Key Result Areas

Key Results Fall Into The Following Main Areas

Operational support for a range of Employers & Tertiary activity plans and Member Engagement events

  • Support and undertake the business development, relationship management and member activities outlined in the market activity plan
  • Maintain excellent product and service knowledge and be able to apply it to the specific situation / requirements of members and prospective students
  • Support in organizing surveys and call campaigns to members or prospective students when required.
  • Oversee / coordinate member and stakeholder communications in the region
  • Stakeholder communication and act as a liaison / coordinator with the Marketing, Corporate Communications and Digital team for the brand / marketing requirements for the region
  • Enter and maintain stakeholder records in CRM
  • Interrogate the CRM, run and contribute to the creation of reports to help inform decision making
  • Organise and occasionally participate in person, events associated with recruitment activities e.g. career fairs

Active support for the wider Middle East team and maintaining market and product knowledge

  • Maintain knowledge and assist in documenting market insights, competitor offers and activity
  • Compile information and develop business papers or presentation slides in provided templates
  • Support with market research when necessary
  • Curate content from IFoA that can be shared with members, stakeholders and by staff on social media and the IFoA intranet, e.g. LinkedIn posts
  • Compile performance reports and data for the team

Provide timely and accurate advice to Members and Prospective Students

  • Advise and support members on Membership processes as and when required in areas such as admission, advancement, renewals, readmission, reduced fees, enrolment for IFoA exams and other professional development programs.
  • Activities Include
  • IFoA Qualification matters
  • Membership certificates and awards
  • Updating & utilizing the feedback registry
  • Regular reporting, including daily, weekly and any additional reporting
  • Member or any other surveys
  • Support enhanced member value through the provision of value-add member contact and advice
  • Work closely with Head and Membership team to identify opportunities to enhance member value
  • Assist the Head in developing and implementing the member engagement plan for the year

Teamwork

  • Assist the team to meet organizational goals and objectives and to maintain and build a strong team culture within the group
  • Building collaborative working relationships with staff at all levels across the organization
  • Maintain professionalism at all times – provide efficient customer service to members and non-members via all channels of communication
  • Staff may also be required to administer member groups / task forces when related to their area of work and build collaborative working relationships with IFoA staff in other business units, presenters and with members working on committees, project groups or focus forums.
  • Contribute to the overall strategy and direction of the Markets Group

Organisation

  • Reports directly to the Head of Middle East
  • Autonomous control of day-to-day responsibilities
  • The position will liaise closely with staff located in other business units
  • Utilise budgeted resources allocated to the individual projects

Decisions

  • Contribute to and support the implementation of business development and member engagement strategies that increase member value, support the continued development of our members and maintain IFoA’s branding as a preferred actuarial qualification of choice.
  • Understand and help link members’ needs to opportunities as they are identified by the team
  • Report and share outcomes from market activities
  • Identify and provide appropriate data sources and insight information, to support effective decision making
  • Develop and follow clear procedures, making process improvements and develop new initiatives as and when such opportunities are identified
  • Effectively manage, prioritise and schedule workload to meet competing deadlines

  • Reporting to line manager but also (when required) support the Director of Market, Partner & Member Development
  • Ability to interpret data to inform decision making and make recommendations or identify risks
  • Contribute to market prioritisation by providing quality data to support investment into the right markets at the right time

  • A collaborative and flexible approach to work, and the ability to contribute fully as part of a team.
  • Collating, proof reading, formatting, and circulation of documents and other papers, presentations, establishing and maintaining spreadsheets/databases and action logs.

Impact

This role is responsible for supporting the Head in the successful implementation of IFoA’s international strategy, contributing to an increase member value, supporting the continued development of our members and maintaining IFoA’s branding as a preferred actuarial qualification of choice. The post-holder will contribute to how the IFoA is perceived both by members and externally by key stakeholders and decision makers in the region, and how the region is perceived internally within the IFoA.

Knowledge and experience

Essential Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualification and/or substantial experience in business support, customer service / member service

Language

  • Proficient in written and spoken English
  • Ability in written and spoken Arabic is welcome

  • Interest or experience of actuarial or membership body / regulatory issues

Occasional regional travel when required for regional member / business development activities

Working Hours
