About the Role
Our client, a respected and long-established bespoke joinery and shopfitting company, is seeking a Marking Out Technician to join their production team. You’ll play a key role in supporting the accurate manufacture of high-quality joinery products, working closely with the workshop to check drawings, prepare materials, and ensure all information is issued correctly for production.

Position Details
Hours: 39-hour week, with start times of 6:30am, 7:00am or 7:30am, finishing at 3:00pm, 3:30pm or 4:00pm accordingly
Salary: £32,500 – £33,000 DOE (equivalent to £16.13 per hour)
Holiday: 26 days + bank holidays (Time to be allocated over Christmas & New Year)

Key Responsibilities
- Accurately check technical drawings, cutting sheets, and material specifications, raising any discrepancies or queries with the relevant teams.
- Maintain organised records of all timber, veneer sheets, drawings, and documentation received into the Joinery Department.
- Prepare and mark out timber and veneered boards in line with approved drawings, including joints, rebates, bevels, and other joinery details.
- Identify and prepare materials required for CNC machining and Joinery Mill operations.
- Issue all materials, drawings, and cutting sheets to Bench Joiners, ensuring the latest approved revisions are used.
- Maintain drawing and revision control, updating documentation and communicating changes across the department.
- Liaise with the Setting Out Department, Joinery Mill, Metal Shop, and wider production teams to resolve technical queries and support smooth workflow.
- Support a “Right First Time” approach by ensuring accuracy, quality, and compliance throughout the marking-out process.
- Follow company quality standards, procedures, and health & safety requirements at all times.

Position Requirements
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturing drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail with a methodical and accurate approach to work.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to maintain clear records and documentation.
- Confident communicator, able to work effectively with multiple departments.
- Competent IT skills and comfortable working with digital drawings and documentation.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a wider production team.
- (Desirable) Previous experience within joinery, woodworking, or a manufacturing environment.
- (Desirable) Understanding of timber, veneered boards, CNC processes, and joinery production methods.
- (Desirable) Familiarity with AutoCAD, DWG TrueView, Procore, or Microsoft Excel.
