With a focus on retail sales and pawnbroking, Miltons Diamonds is one of the busiest and most recognised pawnbrokers in and around Liverpool.
The business regularly handles high-value items, lending up to £1 million on a single piece of jewelry, providing a dynamic and specialist environment for skilled professionals.
About the Role
The Master Goldsmith at Miltons Diamonds is a full-time, on-site position based in Liverpool.
The successful candidate will work on the bench to:
- Craft, repair, and restore fine jewelry, including gold, silver, and other precious metals
- Ensure high-quality workmanship with meticulous attention to detail
- Perform daily duties such as:
- Setting stones (e.g., diamonds, gemstones)
- Resizing rings (stretching/shrinking bands)
- Undertaking complex repairs
- Delivering custom alterations and design adjustments based on client specifications
- Collaborate closely with sales and pawnbroking teams to:
- Assess items for authenticity and condition
- Provide technical advice on repairs and restorations
- Support accurate valuations for lending decisions

Requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Proven technical skills in goldsmithing:
- Benchwork, jewelry construction, and repair techniques
- Proficiency in jewelry design with the ability to interpret and execute custom design briefs
- Experience in engraving and decorative techniques on precious metals
- Customer service excellence:
- Clear, professional communication with a diverse clientele (including high-net-worth individuals)
- Sales acumen to support retail and pawnbroking teams with product knowledge
- Ability to assess items professionally and explain assessments to clients
- Previous experience in:
- A high-end jewelry workshop or luxury retail environment
- Working with precious metals and gemstones
- Technical competencies:
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Manual dexterity (essential for precision work)
- Commitment to high-quality standards
- Willingness to work:
- Full-time, on-site in Liverpool
- Collaboratively within a small, experienced team
- With potential need for occasional customer-facing interactions

Professional Development & Training
- Relevant vocational training or certification in:
- Goldsmithing
- Jewelry making
- Apprenticeship or equivalent experience is strongly advantageous. (If not formally qualified, extensive hands-on experience with exceptional craftsmanship may be considered.)
