Matchday Operations Engineer Role
Qvest’s subsidiary Qspaces is building and operating a modern cloud-based live sports production platform for a major international sports broadcaster in London. We are seeking highly capable Matchday Operations Engineers (rotational assignment) to support live production operations during Premier League matchdays and other live event windows.
About the Role
This hybrid role merges live broadcast operations with cloud/media platform expertise. You will:
- Work alongside a distributed remote cloud/platform engineering team while bringing hands-on broadcast craft experience.
- Provide the field-presence operational layer connecting production, remote DevOps, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Perform operational fault finding, incident coordinator, workflow troubleshooting, and escalation management.
This is not a classical NOC or helpdesk role. Engineers will act as a critical bridge for live event reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite operational support during Premier League matchdays and live production windows in London.
- Maintain physical presence at the customer location during critical windows using a rotation-based model.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot incidents at the live site, escalating critical issues as required.
- Collaborate with remote Qspaces DevOps and operations teams.
- Support vendor escalation and coordination during live events.
- Monitor operational health via Dataminer and observability platforms (e.g., Grafana).
- Host war-room bridge discussions for P1 incidents.
- Run pre-match and pre-broadcast readiness checks.
- Coordinate with customer teams onsite for seamless operational flow.
- Proactively identify operational risks and escalate accordingly.
- Contribute to runbooks, post-incident reviews, and matchday emergency playbooks.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Operational Environment
The platform integrates:
- Media Workflow/Orchestration (Dataminer, Qibb, Viz Mosart, Xytech)
- Cloud/Infrastructure (AWS, Kubernetes, hybrid cloud)
- Broadcast Systems (live production, media asset workflows, IP video distribution)
- Observability (Grafana, custom alerting tooling)
Candidates need familiarity with complex, multi-vendor systems—deep expertise in all platforms is rare, but pragmatic troubleshooting is critical.
Requirements
Strongly Preferred
✅ Broadcast experience in live sports or production environments ✅ Familiarity with IP/video workflows (SMPTE 2022, ST 2110) ✅ Operational experience with at least one of:
- Viz Mosart/EVS (XT/XS-VIA/LSM-VIA/MultiReview)
- Adobe Premiere + MAM (e.g., Mimir)
- Technical embargo/playout systems (e.g., Saga/NRCS or Makalu) ✅ Cloud or hybrid media operations (e.g., AWS, containerized environments) ✅ Experience in escalation management under live operational pressure ✅ Working in multi-vendor broadcast environments
