# Material Controller
📍 Location: Woodford Halse 🕒 Job Type: 18 Month - Fixed Term Contract 🏭 Department: Material Operations
Reporting To: Material Planning Manager
Hours of Work:
- Monday to Thursday: 07:30 to 16:15
- Friday: 7.00 to 15.30
- One unpaid 30-minute lunch break per day
- Occasional additional hours as necessary
- One working from home day per week

Job Summary
As Material Controller, you’ll champion material availability—ensuring every component lands just in time to meet ours and our customers’ élite standards.
Your core responsibility: master materials planning, balancing supplier coordination, inventory optimisation, and proactive supply-chain management to avoid bottlenecks. Working across departments, you’ll:
- Translate production schedules into precise material demand plans
- Monitor stock levels against targets to preempt shortages
- Build supplier relationships for on-time, consistent deliveries
- Streamline demand forecasting and contingency responses

With a finger on the pulse of production risks, you’ll drastically slash delays while nurturing cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
• Schedule and control the logistical flow of materials, matching vehicle builds via Singer’s build plan • Lift core material challenges:
- Identify and communicate vehicle-specific shortages daily to the Build team
- Lead SOS (Situational Operating Scenario) meetings with car-by-car material updates • Work with Materials Controllers to pre-empt delays • Attendance required in build/production meetings, sharing material status and risk-mitigation updates
• Partner with the MRP Data Analyst to refine demand calculations • Proactively address inventory gaps via supplier expediting and on-demand negotiations
• Analyse:
- How stock levels align with demand projections
- Risk factors that could derail schedules
• Champion continuous improvement, collaborating across suppliers and internal teams • Implement and refine delivery workflows from supplier to workshop
