About The Role
What if your advanced knowledge of semiconductor materials or molecular modeling could directly shape how AI reasons through some of the most complex problems in science and engineering? We're looking for Materials Science experts — with Masters or PhD level — to help train and evaluate cutting-edge AI models built for technical domains.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. No prior AI experience required — just deep domain expertise and a commitment to scientific rigor.
Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract Location: Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Develop, solve, and review advanced material science problems with real-world relevance and technical depth
- Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modelling, or related specializations to design complex, high-quality problem sets
- Evaluate AI-generated scientific reasoning and outputs for accuracy, clarity, and rigor
- Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to improve model performance
- Ensure scientific depth and precision across all deliverables — from problem framing to solution review

Who You Are
- Holds a Master's or PhD in Materials Science or a closely related field
- Strong expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modelling, or adjacent research areas
- Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB for research applications or technical problem-solving
- Exceptional written communicator with sharp attention to detail
- Self-directed, reliable, and able to work independently in an asynchronous environment
- Fluent in English and based in U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have:
- Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows
- Background in applied or industry research in semiconductors, advanced materials, or computational chemistry
