Materials Controller

Procurement Materials Management Team – Full-Time Staff Member


Job Title

Procurement & Materials Management Officer


About the Role

The Procurement Materials Management team at Conquest Hospital seeks a proactive and committed member of staff to:

  • Provide effective and efficient Materials Management services to the Trust.
  • Support customer/patient safety while growing initial service development.
  • Work closely with wards, departments, and IT systems (NHSSC & Integra) for seamless supply operations.

Key Responsibilities

Stock & Inventory Management

  • Track, replenish, and distribute medical supplies across the Trust.
  • Utilise handheld computers for order processing and stock tracking.
  • Conduct stock takes, monitor stock levels, and generate authorisation reports to reduce surplus inventory.
  • Develop value-for-money initiatives, including cost-saving strategies.

Ward & Department Collaboration

  • Ensure all storage areas meet materials management and ward/department standards.
  • Maintain robust stock control principles at point-of-use locations.
  • Support efficient stock receipt/put-away processes.

Cross-Functional Support

  • Assist in additional Procurement/Materials Management tasks as directed by the Materials Manager or designated supervisor.

Requirements & Skills

  • Attitude: Enthusiastic, customer-focused, and committed to best practice.
  • Technical: Experience with NHSSC, Integra, or NHS supply systems is advantageous.
  • Organisational: Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
