Application Deadline: 27 July 2026 Department: Structures & Materials Location: Silverstone

Description

At Aston Martin Formula One, performance starts with engineering excellence. We are seeking a Materials Engineer to join our Structures and Materials Group, supporting the development, testing, and analysis of advanced materials that contribute directly to the performance and reliability of our Formula One cars.

As a Materials Engineer, you will play a key role in materials testing, analysis, and development. Working closely with colleagues across the Materials Group and Design Office, you will generate valuable engineering insights through testing and investigation, while supporting the development of new materials, processes, and laboratory capabilities.

This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive engineer to work with cutting-edge composite, metallic and non-metallic materials in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting mechanical testing, metallographic assessment, and analytical evaluation of composite, metallic, and non-metallic materials.
  • Interpreting test data, identifying trends, and providing engineering recommendations to support development programmes.
  • Operating and maintaining laboratory equipment including tensile test systems, FTIR, DMA, DSC, and microscopy tools.
  • Preparing adhesive bond, composite, and metallographic samples for testing and failure investigations.
  • Recording, analysing, and reporting laboratory results, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and high-quality engineering interpretation.
  • Supporting component failure investigations through sample preparation, evidence gathering, root-cause analysis, and technical reporting.
  • Contributing to the development of new materials, test methods, specifications, and process documentation.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives within the laboratory and collaborating with other departments to solve technical challenges.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
