Materials Leader
Material Health Leader
The Material Health Leader ensures that production plans are feasible by aligning materials, capacity, and priorities across the bill of materials—including spares and upgrades. This role transforms planning into actionable workflows, supporting the Value Stream Leader and cross-functional teams to meet customer needs, prevent constraints, and optimise inventory, productivity, and quality.
Success here depends on sharp operational insight, early problem-solving, strong cross-functional relationships, and driving timely deliveries while continuously improving workflows and performance.
Key Responsibilities
-
Plan Execution
- Transform the master production schedule and material requirements plan into a realistic, actionable production plan across the full bill of materials, including spares and upgrades.
- Assess shop floor capacity, bottlenecks, and constraints, proactively addressing issues to meet customer demand.
- Communicate capacity changes back to central planning and support long-term strategy.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to maintain critical planning data (e.g., lead times, yield, attrition, and minimum/maximum inventory levels).
-
Inventory and Work-in-Process Management
- Partner with the Value Stream Leader to ensure clear ownership and execution of the production plan.
- Develop and execute a high-performing inventory plan that improves inventory turns.
- Hold direct accountability for:
- Aged work in process (WIP)
- Material review board (MRB) processes
- Coach the team to own their plans and refine daily processes, including WIP management and work order releases.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
