We are seeking an experienced Materials Operations Manager in North Devon with a global aerospace manufacturing organisation , to lead all internal materials, logistics, inventory and production scheduling activities across a busy manufacturing facility.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring maximum adherence to the Master Production Schedule (MPS), optimising material flow, maintaining inventory accuracy and driving operational performance.

This position will lead materials planning and execution activities, working closely with operations, supply chain and planning teams to ensure customer demand is met efficiently and effectively.

Key Responsibilities of the Materials Operations Manager Manage short-term production scheduling in line with Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) and the Master Production Schedule (MPS). Ensure inventory accuracy through robust cycle counting and inventory control processes. Oversee the movement, storage, receipt and distribution of materials throughout the facility. Manage all site logistics and transportation activities. Drive efficient material flow and inventory transactions to support manufacturing operations using lean principles. Monitor and execute production schedules, ensuring alignment with network planning requirements. Escalate material availability concerns and supply issues to relevant planning and supply chain teams. Support forecast attainment and delivery performance in line with business objectives. Coordinate shipment schedules to meet customer delivery priorities and on-time delivery targets. Lead continuous improvement initiatives using tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Visual Management, Standard Work and operational assessments. Maintain target inventory levels while achieving customer service, freight and operational performance goals. Ensure data accuracy across MRP/ERP systems, including shipping, receiving, inventory transactions and production scheduling. Act as the primary point of contact for escalations relating to production schedule execution. Lead, coach and develop the materials and logistics team to drive engagement and performance.

Requirements of a Materials Operations Manager Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification. Minimum 5 years' experience within Materials Management, Operations or Supply Chain Management in a manufacturing environment. Minimum 3 years' experience leading and developing teams. Strong understanding of SIOP/S&OP processes and inventory management. Experience with forecasting, production scheduling and bill of material structures. Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems (experience with Kinaxis RapidResponse, Maestro or MFG-Pro would be advantageous). Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and material flow from raw materials through to finished goods. Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills. Proven ability to motivate teams and deliver operational results.
