Material Operations Manager – Eaton South Molton
Located in the heart of Devon, UK, our South Molton plant is a hub of precision engineering excellence, employing over 400 skilled professionals and playing a vital role in delivering aerospace components to global industry leaders.
About the Role
With a history dating back to 1973, Eaton Aerospace South Molton stands out as the only investment casting foundry in the entire Eaton Aerospace network. Our core focus is on designing, manufacturing, and testing high-tech aerospace components for partners like Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and Augusta Westland.
This role reports to the Plant Manager and serves as the leading authority on all materials-related operations within the plant. Your goal is to optimise the internal materials flow, ensuring seamless alignment with the Master Production Schedule (MPS) delivered by the Network Planning team through Integrated Business Planning.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic & Operations Leadership
- Responsible for scheduling in the short-term horizon based on Sales and Operations Execution (S&OE) and the Master Production Schedule.
- Oversee inventory accuracy, ensuring adherence via accurate cycle counting.
- Manage materials movement, internal receipts, storage, distribution, and transportation.
- Director of site logistics, including coordinating logistics activities.
- Owner of materials flow and inventory transactions to support operations via lean material management.
Supply Chain & Planning
- Generate short-term production schedules aligned with the Network’s operational plan.
- Monitor execution of production schedules, including labor allocation on the factory floor and execution planning adherence.
- Escalate material availability issues to the Center of Excellence (COE) and Network teams.

Forecasting & Execution
- Drive forecast attainment closely aligned with MPS/IBP outputs.
- Execute and manage shipment schedules in line with customer prioritisation and Network requirements.
Continuous Improvement
- Champion lean initiatives, including MMA, OPA assessments, visual management, standard work, and value stream mapping.
Data Management
- Maintain target inventory levels and on-time delivery goals for internal and external clients.
- Ensure strong freight optimisation, including premium and standard shipments.
- Oversee MRO, shipping/receiving, and part-movement data health.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Serve as a point of contact for all MPS execution escalations.
Qualifications
Essential
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain or related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ combined experience in:
- Materials Management
- Operations Leadership
- Supply Chain Planning in a manufacturing environment.
- At least 3 years’ experience leading people and teams.
Preferred
- Experience in ERP/MRP systems, particularly Kinaxis RapidResponse/Maestro & MFG-Pro.
- Competency in forecasting techniques, bill of materials structuring, and scheduling.
- Strong knowledge of aerospace manufacturing processes and End-to-End value streams.
