Your New Role
As a Materials Operative, you’ll ensure the efficient and effective movement, storage, and control of materials within our operations. Supporting the Materials team, you will:
- Manage inbound and outbound goods/
- Maintain stock accuracy/
- Ensure materials are readily available where and when needed, keeping operations running seamlessly.
Ideal for: Candidates with previous experience in stores, warehousing, or logistics (rail industry experience preferred but not essential). Applicants from various industries are also encouraged to apply.
Note: A UK driving licence with no more than 6 points is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials, ensuring optimum accuracy and efficiency
- Prepare goods for dispatch and organise courier collections
- Operate equipment such as forklifts and cranes safely, while upholding high standards of housekeeping
- Conduct inventory and stock checks for accurate record-keeping
- Transact materials through internal systems to maintain effective stock control and traceability
- Oversee material returns, including quarantine and restocking processes
- Support purchasing activities for ensuring timely material and equipment availability
- Adhere to company safety standards and compliance policies
- Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to meet operational targets

About You
We’re seeking a proactive, reliable individual with a high work ethic and a commitment to safety and quality. Ideal qualities include:
- Previous experience in stores, warehousing, or logistics (rail experience an advantage)
- Experience with material control or stock management systems
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisation skills
- Strong communication skills and teamwork abilities/
- Flexibility, positive attitude, and a eagerness to develop skills
