Mathematics PhD Researcher

Location: Remote

Engagement Type: Hourly Contract

Compensation: $70–$90/hour

About the Opportunity

This opportunity is for Mathematics PhD graduates interested in contributing to advanced AI research and evaluation projects. The role involves applying advanced mathematical expertise to develop challenging problems, evaluate AI-generated solutions, and improve the reasoning capabilities of next-generation large language models.

Your work will help create high-quality mathematical datasets that enhance the accuracy, logical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities of frontier AI systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design challenging, research-level mathematics problems across your area of expertise.
  • Develop accurate, high-quality reference solutions and mathematical explanations.
  • Review and evaluate AI-generated mathematical solutions for correctness, rigor, and reasoning quality.
  • Identify errors, inconsistencies, and opportunities to improve AI-generated outputs.
  • Collaborate with researchers and fellow subject matter experts to maintain high-quality evaluation standards.
  • Document methodologies and mathematical reasoning with clarity and precision.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Mathematics (completed).
  • Undergraduate degree from a university in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, or Western Europe.
  • Graduate degree from a top university in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, or Western Europe.
  • Strong background in advanced mathematics and mathematical proof techniques.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • High attention to detail and ability to follow complex technical instructions.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Research publications in mathematics or related quantitative disciplines.
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or conducting academic research.
  • Experience reviewing technical or academic work.
  • Familiarity with AI, machine learning, or computational mathematics is a plus.

Compensation

  • Competitive compensation of $70–$90/hour.
