Mathematics Researcher (Masters/PhDs) - AI Training

About The Role

What if your expertise in advanced mathematics could directly shape how AI reasons, solves problems, and communicates complex ideas to millions of people around the world? We're looking for Mathematics Researchers with Masters or PhD-level training to help build and evaluate the mathematical reasoning capabilities of cutting-edge AI models.

This is a fully remote, flexible contract role. You'll work asynchronously alongside world-leading AI research teams — applying your deep mathematical knowledge to problems that matter.

  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Develop, solve, and critically review advanced mathematical problems with real-world relevance and rigorous depth
  • Apply your expertise in algebra, calculus, statistics, discrete mathematics, or related areas to design complex, meaningful problem statements
  • Evaluate AI-generated mathematical reasoning for correctness, clarity, and logical soundness
  • Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to improve model performance in quantitative reasoning
  • Ensure mathematical rigor, precision, and depth across all deliverables
  • Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule

Who You Are

  • Hold a Master's or PhD in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field
  • Deeply knowledgeable in one or more of: algebra, calculus, statistics, or discrete mathematics
  • Experienced using Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, or similar tools for research or quantitative work
  • Exceptionally precise — you notice errors others miss and hold yourself to a high standard of rigor
  • A clear, confident written communicator who can explain complex ideas with structured clarity
  • Fluent in English and currently based in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, or New Zealand

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with data annotation, evaluation systems, or AI training workflows
  • Background in academic research, applied mathematics, or quantitative modelling
  • Familiarity with AI tools or large language model evaluation as an end user
  • Experience writing or reviewing mathematical proofs, textbooks, or technical documentation
