As a tutor in Maths & English, you’ll form a key part of every child’s learning journey by:
Key Responsibilities

Delivering Impactful Lessons Using our smart learning tool, Compass, you’ll deliver tailored sessions where you facilitate learning through questioning, scaffolding, and stretching.

Building Meaningful Relationships With a small group of 16 children, you’ll get to know each learner individually, creating a safe, inspiring environment where they can take risks and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Supporting Academic Progress Help members progress through the national curriculum, prepare for entrance exams (11+), and prepare for GCSEs, celebrating every milestone and success along the way.

About You
You’ll thrive as an Explore Learning tutor if you:
- Have the confidence to lead small-group sessions (1:16) and inspire children to engage in their learning, while prioritising safety and positive behaviour management.
- Feel comfortable supporting children aged 4–16, covering the full national curriculum (including 11+ exams and GCSE Maths & English).
- Are committed to long-term, nurturing relationships—providing the stability and consistency children need to flourish.

About the Role

Location: On-site at Heaton Park, Manchester

Contract: Permanent, part-time (minimum 6 hours/week across at least 2 weekdays)

Shift Times:
- Tuesday: 3:30–4:00 PM
- Wednesday: 3:30–4:00 PM
- Thursday: 3:30–4:00 PM
- Friday: 3:30–4:00 PM
- Saturday: Morning/afternoons (times flexible)

*Opening Hours: This is not a summer-only role—we seek dedicated tutors for the entire academic year and beyond.

Pay & Progression
- Competitive base rates plus annual pay increases based on hours tutored:
- Under 18: £8.40/hour
- 18–20: £10.90/hour
- Over 21: £12.75/hour
- +£0.50/hour if based inside the M25.
- Payments for training and induction hours.
Requirements
You must: ✔ Be aged 16+ with the right to work in the UK. ✔ Hold a Grade 6+ (old B)/merit or above in Maths & English GCSE, or an equivalent qualification. (Accepts predicted grades if results scheduled to arrive within 3 months).

🛂 Safeguarding: A mandatory Enhanced DBS check and full background checks are required.
📋 Honesty is crucial – all candidates must provide a full, verifiable employment history. Any gaps, omissions, or inconsistencies may result in application rejection, offer withdrawal, or dismissal.
🚫 Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) exemption – any criminal history must be declared in line with DBS requirements.
Proof of eligibility to work in the UK must be supplied at interview.
