Maths Graduate - Teaching Assistant

Location: Reading

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Contract: Full-time (Term-Time Only) | Permanent or Fixed-Term

We are working with a welcoming and supportive school in Reading seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant to join their team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills while making a meaningful difference to students' academic progress and confidence.

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers, supporting students both in the classroom and through small-group and one-to-one interventions. Your role will help pupils develop their mathematical understanding while encouraging engagement, resilience, and a positive attitude towards learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students during maths lessons through one-to-one and small-group interventions.
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and effective classroom management.
  • Help students understand mathematical concepts and complete classwork.
  • Provide additional support for pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and other learning needs.
  • Encourage positive behaviour, participation, and confidence within the classroom.
  • Prepare learning resources and support differentiated learning activities.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a closely related subject.
  • A genuine passion for education and supporting young people.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive, positive approach.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people (desirable but not essential).
  • The ability to commute to Reading.
