Maths Lecturer – Full-Time, Permanent (Part-Time 28.8 hrs/week)

Are you an enthusiastic Maths lecturer who enjoys helping learners overcome barriers and build confidence?

At Barking & Dagenham College, Maths is more than a qualification—it’s a gateway to problem-solving, independence, and future opportunity. We’re looking for a committed and forward-thinking Lecturer in Maths to join our Maths & English Department, on a permanent part-time basis (28.8 hrs/week) and help shape positive outcomes for learners across our community.

Barking & Dagenham College of Further & Higher Education is a vibrant, learner-focused institution established in 1961. With four accessible campuses across the Borough of Barking & Dagenham, we support thousands of young people and adults in developing essential skills for employment, apprenticeships, or further study.

The Role

As a Maths Lecturer, you’ll deliver high-quality, engaging teaching to 16-18 and adult learners while contributing to curriculum development and departmental innovation. This is a permanent part-time (28.8 hrs/week) position, with a salary band ranging from £29,411 to £46,307 (pro-rata).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured Maths lessons (including schemes of work)
  • Design and implement learner-centred assessments with developmental feedback
  • Monitor and support learner attendance, progress, and achievement
  • Provide coaching and pastoral support to designated learners
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive learning environment
  • Keep subject knowledge current to ensure teaching remains relevant and employability-focused
  • Engage in professional development and quality improvement activities

Requirements

We are seeking a motivated educator passionate about Maths and learner progression. You’ll either:

  • Hold a recognised teaching qualification with experience in Further or Higher Education, or
  • Hold a qualification in Maths (or a related subject) and be willing to work towards a teaching qualification via our Passport to Teaching programme

Additionally, you should have:

  • A learner-centred approach with strong communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills, including accurate tracking of learner data
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a commitment to collaborative goals
  • A dedication to equality, safeguarding, and inclusive practice
