Trinity School, part of the Newbury Academy Trust, is seeking to appoint a Maths Mentor to join our Mathematics Department. This is a rewarding role working with identified students to close gaps in knowledge and skills, build confidence and improve progress, alongside teaching GCSE Maths to a small cohort of post-16 students who need to resit.
At Trinity, we have exceptionally high expectations, a strong sense of community and a deep commitment to belonging, inclusion and academic excellence. Working closely with the Maths team, the successful candidate will identify and mentor targeted students, deliver small-group teaching, manage our online tutoring programme, and support students both in and out of the classroom to help them achieve their very best.
We Are Seeking Applications From Colleagues Who

- are able to motivate and encourage students, building their confidence and resilience as learners
- are able to work independently, managing their own workload and meeting deadlines without close supervision
- are confident, professional communicators, able to liaise with students, families and teachers

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
