Job Title: Maths Teacher

Location: Waterloo Lodge School, Chorley, Lancashire PR6 7AX

Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday–Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm

Salary: From £39,000 per annum (depending on experience, not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: September 2026

About the Role

We're looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Maths Teacher who is passionate about helping children and young people with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs develop the confidence and skills they need to thrive.

Supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team, you'll help create meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity, resilience and a lifelong love of learning.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deliver engaging and high-quality Maths lessons that inspire pupils and support excellent progress.
  • Plan and adapt learning to meet the individual needs of pupils with SEND, autism and complex needs.
  • Monitor, assess and report on pupil progress, using assessment to inform teaching and celebrate achievement.
  • Contribute to the development of an innovative and engaging Maths curriculum.
  • Promote pupils' confidence, independence, wellbeing and positive engagement with learning.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, therapists and support staff to deliver a personalised learning experience.
  • Teach across other curriculum areas where appropriate and support off-site educational activities when required.
  • Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating learning environment where every pupil can flourish.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

  • A qualified teacher with QTS and strong subject knowledge in Mathematics.
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with autism, learning difficulties and complex needs.
  • Creative, adaptable and committed to delivering engaging, personalised learning.
  • A confident communicator who enjoys working as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.
  • Skilled in assessing progress and adapting teaching to help every pupil succeed.
  • Positive, resilient and committed to continuous professional development.
  • Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Waterloo Lodge is an independent specialist day school for boys and girls aged from 11 to 18, catering for pupils with a wide range of needs in Lancashire, Manchester and surrounding areas. Our dedicated team work together to ensure successful outcomes for pupils who often arrive at the school with a troubled view of education and life.
