Who are Prescient?
Prescient is a specialist global consultancy focused exclusively on the biopharmaceutical industry. Following the recent acquisitions of Uptake and Dolon, Prescient now operates across four core practices: Commercial, Medical, Competitive Strategy and Value, Pricing & Access. Together, we deliver best-in-class intelligence, evidence and strategic consulting to leading biopharma organisations worldwide.
Our work supports clients across the full product lifecycle, from early pipeline through post-launch, delivering timely insights and strategic recommendations that enable informed decision-making across commercial, medical, competitive intelligence, evidence generation and market access functions.
Our Medical practice is the scientific engine of the Prescient platform. We are insight-led and evidence-driven, working alongside clients to navigate complex medical affairs challenges across three core pillars: Medical Strategy & Planning, Integrated Evidence Strategy & Generation and Organisational Excellence. We partner with many of the world's leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies across oncology, rare disease, immunology, neuroscience and beyond.
About the role
We are hiring an MD Senior Consultant to bring clinical depth and credibility to our delivery teams. This is an opportunity for an early-career physician to step out of clinical practice and apply their training in a high-impact strategy environment. Our clients increasingly expect physician-level scrutiny embedded in every engagement, and this role is central to meeting that expectation.
Based in our London office, you will work across medical strategy, evidence planning and advisory engagements as the clinical expert who pressure-tests findings, grounds recommendations in evidence and elevates the quality of what we deliver.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What role will I play on projects?
- Serve as the embedded clinical expert on project teams, bringing disease area knowledge, scientific scrutiny and clinical context across medical affairs engagements.
- Review and pressure-test research outputs: identify weak clinical interpretations, flag inaccuracies and ensure deliverables withstand scrutiny from a sophisticated medical affairs audience.
- Lead write-ups and presentations of primary and secondary research with genuine clinical depth, drawing out the implications and the "so what" rather than summarising findings.
- Contribute to integrated evidence work including literature review and synthesis, real-world data source landscaping and real-world evidence framing.
- Lead client discussions on assigned workstreams, tailoring communications to cross-functional pharma client audiences including medical directors, field medical leads and senior medical leadership.
- Provide guidance to junior colleagues on scientific content, clinical interpretation and evidence standards.
- Contribute to the practice's commitment to consistently high-quality, executive-ready deliverables.
What skills and experience do I need for this role?
- MD / MBBS (or international equivalent) required; clinical training in a relevant therapeutic area such as oncology, haematology, immunology or rare disease is strongly preferred.
- Typically 1-3 years of post-foundation clinical experience (e.g. Specialty Registrar / ST3+ or recently CCT-qualified); research experience (intercalated BSc, MD(Res) or PhD) is an advantage.
- Strong scientific literacy with the ability to ramp quickly across therapeutic areas.
- Ability to interrogate clinical and real-world evidence and translate findings into strategic implications, not simply describe data.
- Genuine interest in moving from clinical practice into a commercial, strategic environment; prior industry or consulting exposure is welcome but not required.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to present credibly to senior pharmaceutical stakeholders.
- Collaborative by nature, working effectively alongside non-physician consultants.
