Salary
£100,000 - £130,000 (Open to higher salaries DOE) + Extensive Package
About the Role
An established and rapidly growing specialist contractor is looking to appoint an experienced M&E Commercial Manager to join a major engineering and construction project in the North East.
Working within a high-performing commercial team, you will take ownership of the commercial delivery of a flagship project, ensuring strong financial performance, effective risk management, and successful project delivery from procurement through to final account.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a business delivering technically challenging, large-scale construction projects with excellent long-term career prospects and career defining projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the commercial team, driving high performance, accountability, and commercial awareness across M&E projects.
- Implement and maintain robust cost control procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce and present monthly commercial reports, cash flow forecasts, cost reporting, and financial performance updates.
- Develop procurement strategies to meet programme, budget, and project objectives across Mechanical & Electrical packages.
- Ensure effective handover from pre-construction to project delivery teams, maintaining full understanding of budgets, scope, and procurement strategy.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and M&E subcontractors and suppliers.
- Manage all commercial documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate commercial risks whilst maximizing project opportunities.
- Carry out due diligence on M&E subcontractors and suppliers prior to appointment.
- Oversee M&E subcontract procurement, contract administration, and purchase orders.
- Manage valuations, applications for payment, certifications, and cash collection in accordance with contract requirements.
- Ensure timely payment certification and commercial management across the M&E supply chain.

Requirements
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related Building Services discipline.
- Significant experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within the M&E / Building Services sector.
- Strong commercial acumen with excellent financial reporting and cost management skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience working for an M&E contractor is essential.
- Strong knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical (M&E/MEP) packages.
- Experience working under a variety of procurement routes including Lump Sum, Design & Build, Two-Stage, and Open Book tendering.
- Experience delivering major M&E projects across sectors such as data centres, commercial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or industrial would be advantageous.
