M&E Engineer – M25 DBFO Project (Contract)

About the Role
Join the Connect Plus services team as an M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) Engineer on the M25 DBFO project—a critical infrastructure initiative.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing technical assurance and reviews to ensure design proposals align with project goals, the DMRB (Design Manual for Roads & Bridges), and current standards
- Leading engineering reviews to deliver innovative, safe, and asset-focused solutions that drive excellence
- Challenging design proposals and contractor solutions to optimise schemes and timelines
- Advising Connect Plus Strategy (CPS) on overall renewal strategies for infrastructure
- Serving as a key liaison with National Highways (SES) on technical matters, regulatory submissions, and compliance guidance
- Ensuring designs comply with CPS Quality Management Processes, internal standards, and CDM (Construction Design and Management) Regulations
- Leading M&E projects from concept to construction, managing expert consultants and multi-disciplinary teams
- Offering technical leadership to the design & engineering team and supporting fellow professionals through Gateway review processes
- Coordinating multi-disciplinary design schemes within complex tunnel environments to ensure integrated systems
- Leading innovation initiatives to improve current design and construction techniques
- Developing design solutions through collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
Your Key Duties
- Provide technical expertise and leadership to deliver high-quality mechanical and electrical infrastructure efficiently and safely
- Ensure compliance with legislative, contractual, and industry standards (DMRB, MCHW, BS/EN codes)
- Drive continuous improvement in project delivery and technical practices
- Act as a technical go-to resource for complex schemes across the Project Delivery Team and stakeholders
- Support high-tech and creative solutions, balancing feasibility, cost and asset requirements

About You
You must have (or demonstrated the potential to achieve):
Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or related engineering discipline (preferred)
- Proven technical expertise in Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) design & installation
- Multiple-project experience, including tunnelling, infrastructure, or major DBFO projects
- Strong understanding of construction standards, CDM regulations, and DMRB guidelines
- Experience using engineering simulation, design, and project management tools
- A professional membership (e.g. CEng)? or working towards professional qualification
