Mechanical & Electrical Operative
Location: Wallingford, Oxfordshire & Site-based
Salary: Up to £32,500 (depending on experience)
This is an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical & Electrical Operative to join our growing team in Wallingford. Ideally suited for someone looking to develop new skills in the utilities/water industry, this role offers a chance to progress their career while working on high-profile projects within a fast-paced environment.
As part of SSI under the South Staffordshire Group—a 3,000-employee organisation encompassing South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water, and other utilities ventures—you’ll be joining a team experiencing significant growth.

What’s the Role?
- Installing and maintaining a wide range of mechanical apparatus and associated equipment
- Water-related tasks, including pumping plants, pipework and control systems
- Working on pumping plant infrastructure, such as split case pumps, vertical turbine pumps
- Strict adherence to health & safety policies and safe systems of work

Requirements
- Experience in mechanical or electrical work would be advantageous
- Highly self-motivated, with the ability to take initiative and work effectively as part of a team
- Requires a full, clean driving licence
- Preparation for flexible working hours and business travel as needed
