This opportunity focuses on Optical and 3D Structured Light technologies for Defence UK and International markets. As a Measurement Engineer, you’ll:
- Develop, programme, and industrialise advanced 3D scanning processes to ensure accurate, efficient verification of cutting-edge products.
- Optimise measurement solutions across the entire product lifecycle—from new product introduction to repair and overhaul.
- Contribute to enhanced product quality, process efficiency, and manufacturing excellence by deploying innovative metrology.
What You Will Be Doing
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop & Optimise 3D Scanning Programs
- Create and refine measurement routines using Zeiss Inspect, PolyWorks, and other optical metrology software.
- Ensure adherence to quality, accuracy, efficiency, and safety standards.

Validate & Standardise Processes
- Test and formalise inspection procedures across product lifecycle stages.
- Draft clear operational work instructions for structured light and optical scanning.

Technical Problem-Solving
- Troubleshoot production measurement issues, partnering with operations to resolve challenges.

Setup & Verification Expertise
- Define fixturing, setup, and calibration procedures to guarantee robust, repeatable, and safe verification processes.
Position Qualifications
To excel in this role, you must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification: Professional qualifications in engineering (e.g., UK HND or foundation degree at minimum) or a national equivalent within a relevant discipline.
- Software Proficiency: Hands-on experience with 3D scanning and optical metrology, including:
- Zeiss Inspect, PolyWorks, or comparable systems.
- Metrology Expertise: Strong grasp of inspection principles—preferably with a metrology qualification (e.g., NPL Level 1/2 or NMSA Level 2/3).
- Digital Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with digital manufacturing platforms (e.g., Teamcenter, NX).

Security Clearance Requirement:
- Current applicants must hold Security Check (SC) clearance (without caveats). Rolls-Royce will sponsor Developed Vetting (DV) for qualified candidates.
