Senior M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) Designer
Role – Senior M&E Designer Location – Flexible base (with national travel as required) Contract – 12-month fixed-term position

About the Role
As a Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Designer, you’ll shape, refine, and deliver building services solutions that transform our national estate—from the concept stage right through to handover.

Key Responsibilities
Core Delivery
- Lead M&E design projects—from concept to project closure, ensuring designs are:
- Technically sound
- Cost-effective
- Alignment with safety standards (e.g., CDM 2015, regulatory compliance)
- Carry out detailed site surveys and feasibility assessments to define project needs accurately.
- Produce high-quality design deliverables—drawings, documentation, scopes of work, and specifications—tailored for tenders, procurement, and construction.
- Provide technical due diligence during procurement, installation, commissioning, and validation phases.

Collaboration & Efficiency
- Work closely with project managers, teams, engineers, and contractors to turn designs into ongoing, operational success.
- Assess opportunities for cost reduction, performance enhancement, and sustainability gains.
- Supports automation and maintenance teams, ensuring designs integrate seamlessly with our future-ready systems.
- Act as the go-to technical authority—addressing risks, mitigating project challenges, and reporting progress clearly.
- Build cross-team relationships to streamline workflows, reduce inefficiencies, and improve delivery consistency.
Testing & Validation
- Play an active role in commissioning, testing, and technical handover processes—ensuring designs meet operational objectives before sign-off.
- Apply value-for-money principles to the lifecycle of M&E systems.
Key Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Strong technical expertise in building services (HVAC, electrical power, lighting, fire protection, control systems, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of construction safety (including CDM 2015 compliance).
- Proven ability to produce clear, professional technical documentation—drawings, reports, and procurement specs.
- CAD proficiency (Eras الحضارة , AutoCAD, Revit, etc.) and hands-on experience with technical calculations.
- Negotiation and influencing skills—balancing stakeholder needs against practical constraints.
- Experience in M&E design—whether consultancy, contractor or client-side.
- Practical background in industrial, commercial, or operational buildings, with:
- Site experience exposure
- Installation, testing, and commissioning support
- Compliance duties (catchment, maintenance checks)

Preferred Qualifications (Nice to have, but experience-level can compensate)
- Degree, HNC/HND in Building Services, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
- Progressing toward (or holding) a chartered status (RICS, ICE, CIOB, CIBSE, IET).
- Hold a CSCS card or Construction H&S test pass.
- Certified in IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH General Certificate.
