We are a leading global specialist in advanced industrial technologies and solutions for the power generation and heavy industrial sectors. We’re looking for a technically strong and customer-focused engineer to join our Commercial Operations team in Dumbarton.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer who enjoys applying technical expertise to solve real customer challenges — combining engineering, proposals, and client support.

About the Role

You will serve as the key technical expert helping customers select, configure, and apply our specialised industrial equipment to meet their process needs. You’ll work closely with Sales, Contracts, and Aftermarket teams to deliver strong technical proposals and successful project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for product selection, configuration, and applications
  • Perform pressure and flow calculations for industrial systems
  • Prepare and revise Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) using CAD (AutoCAD, Solid Edge or similar)
  • Review technical proposals and orders to identify and mitigate risks
  • Create and deliver technical presentations and reports to customers (virtually and in-person)
  • Support tender preparation and collaborate with internal engineering teams
  • Contribute to product improvements, engineering standards, and new technology development
  • Produce high-quality technical documentation using MS Office (especially Excel)

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of thermodynamics and mechanics (first principles)
  • Practical experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment
  • Experience with technical calculations and CAD drawings

Key Attributes:

  • Confident communicator comfortable with customer-facing work and technical presentations
  • Proactive problem-solver with a flexible, can-do attitude
  • Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions
  • Interest in power generation or heavy industrial equipment is highly advantageous
