Mechanical Building Services Engineer
Mechanical Building Services Engineer – Bristol (Contractor Opportunity)
The Opportunity
We are collaborating with a leading UK construction contractor to recruit an experienced Mechanical Building Services Engineer for its Building Services team in Bristol. This role involves supporting projects through every stage—from pre-construction to delivery—coordinating design, procurement, and installation in collaboration with project, design, and commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Support tender and pre-construction activities, including:
- Conducting design reviews
- Informing buildability assessments
- Implementing value engineering strategies
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders to deliver seamless mechanical & electrical (M&E) solutions
- Manage technical queries, RFIs (Requests for Information), and design changes throughout the project lifecycle
- Lead technical coordination of mechanical services, ensuring alignment with:
- Specifications
- Programmes
- Budget constraints
- Review and approve:
- Technical submissions
- Installation drawings
- Commissioning information
- Oversee procurement, factory testing, and delivery of plant and equipment
- Conduct site inspections and assist construction teams in resolving technical issues
- Ensure designs meet quality, safety, maintainability, and commissioning requirements

About You
The role is ideal for candidates with:
- Proven experience in delivering mechanical building services packages within construction projects
- A background with a main contractor or M&E contractor (essential)
- A degree in engineering or equivalent (HNC/HND accepted, though preferred)
- Outstanding communication skills and expertise in stakeholder management
- Deep knowledge of design coordination and project delivery workflows
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
