Are you a skilled mechanical engineer, fitter, or craftsperson looking for a varied and rewarding role? We are looking for a Craftsperson Mechanical to join our Regional Repair Workshop team in Exeter.

Working on a diverse range of assets that support water and wastewater treatment operations across the region, you'll play a vital role in maintaining, repairing and extending the life of critical equipment. From pumps and gearboxes to blowers and specialist treatment assets, no two days will be the same. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong mechanical maintenance experience who enjoys fault-finding, problem-solving and delivering high-quality workmanship within a collaborative workshop environment.

What you'll be doing:

  • Stripping, inspecting, repairing and overhauling a wide range of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Working on pumps, gearboxes, blowers, screens and other specialist treatment assets.
  • Carrying out precision assembly, alignment and testing of repaired equipment.
  • Producing inspection reports and recommendations for repair or replacement.
  • Manufacturing and modifying components using workshop machinery and engineering techniques.
  • Supporting repairs to ATEX-rated equipment and contributing to compliance standards.
  • Working safely and following risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work.
  • Maintaining workshop tools, equipment and work areas to high standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and developing new technical skills.

What we are looking for:

Essential

  • Completed apprenticeship in a relevant mechanical or engineering discipline.
  • Experience working within a structured maintenance or workshop environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and repair skills on rotating equipment.
  • Good understanding of mechanical plant and maintenance principles.
  • Experience working safely with risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Computer literacy and ability to complete accurate reports.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • ONC, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial environment.
  • AEMT qualification or experience working with rotating equipment.
  • Machining experience and use of machine tools.
  • Fabrication skills and experience in all types of welding applications.
  • Experience servicing internal or external customers.
