Mechanical Design Engineer – Gaming

About the Role

Welcome to the world of land-based gaming. At Light & Wonder, innovation is at the heart of what we do. Our Gaming team designs cutting-edge technology, products, and content for some of the most iconic casinos and operators worldwide.

We’re on the lookout for an ambitious Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment. As a key member of our team—and reporting directly to the Senior Director of Engineering—you’ll play a vital role in shaping the future of electronic gaming machines.

Responsible for designing and delivering high-performance mechanical and electromechanical solutions, you’ll take concepts from idea to reality. Your work will push boundaries, ensuring our products are precision-engineered, reliable, and ahead of the curve. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who loves hands-on creativity, values collaboration, and is driven by delivering exciting results at speed.

We’re looking for people who think boldly, challenge norms, and uphold our core values:

  • Dare to be Bold – We push boundaries to achieve the extraordinary.
  • Uphold Integrity – We hold ourselves and the industry to the highest standards.
  • Never Settle – Every detail counts in creating excellence.
  • Celebrate Perspectives – Diversity drives innovation.
  • Win as a Team – Collective success is our priority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver innovative mechanical and electromechanical solutions for new products and product enhancements, ensuring they align with project requirements and business goals.
  • Create high-quality, detailed CAD models (using SolidWorks, ideally) and design data to support the development of industry-leading electronic gaming machines.
  • Translate project briefs, requirements, and engineering inputs into practical, manufacturable design solutions.
  • Develop clear, accurate design documentation for internal teams, suppliers, and third-party partners, ensuring compliance with health & safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Manage project documentation, set realistic timelines, and provide progress updates throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Contribute to project planning, assessing feasibility, risks, and technical factors.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally, attending meetings and offering expert insights, solutions, and creative ideas.
  • Gather, interpret, and document customer requirements (both internal and external), ensuring alignment and clarity in development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
