Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Mechanical Design Engineer role based in Blackpool. The Mechanical Design Engineer will design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, translating requirements into detailed design concepts and engineering drawings. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

- Creating and modifying CAD models
- Performing basic engineering calculations
- Collaborating with workshop and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet performance standards
- Supporting prototype build and testing
- Resolving design issues
- Maintaining documentation and revision control for all mechanical designs

The Mechanical Design Engineer will also contribute to product improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to safety and quality guidelines.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to practical, workshop-focused projects.
- Experience in Machine Design, including creating mechanical systems and mechanisms that are reliable, safe, and suitable for manufacture.
- Proficiency in Product Design, with skills in developing concepts from initial requirements through to detailed mechanical layouts and specifications.
- Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools for 3D modeling and 2D drafting, and familiarity with industry-standard file management and drawing standards.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, perform basic stress and tolerance assessments, and work closely with workshop personnel.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple design tasks within project deadlines.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in an on-site team environment; prior experience in a workshop or manufacturing setting is an advantage.
