Company Description
Aura Technical Services Ltd is a specialist MEP (Mechanical, Electrical & Public Health) management consultancy, supporting Tier 1 main contractors and clients on complex construction, fit-out, and refurbishment projects. The company specialises in technically demanding, high-risk projects where MEP performance is critical, with experienced technical leadership delivering measurable value.
Aura provides end-to-end MEP management across the full project lifecycle, including:
- Pre-construction support
- Design management
- Site delivery
- Programme integration
- Client interface
- Commissioning
The team combines deep hands-on MEP expertise with a forward-thinking approach to project delivery. Aura is also developing AuraAI, an in-house AI-powered MEP management platform that enhances technical decision-making, automates reporting, and supports project teams with real-time insights.
Role Description
This is a full-time Mechanical Design Engineer role based in the Manchester Area, United Kingdom, with a hybrid working arrangement allowing flexible work-from-home options.

Key Responsibilities
- Developing mechanical designs for MEP systems
- Producing and reviewing detailed CAD models and drawings
- Ensuring designs are coordinated, buildable, and compliant with industry standards
- Collaborating with:
- Project managers
- Other engineering disciplines
- Subcontractors
- Contributing to technical reviews and resolving design issues across:
- Pre-construction
- Delivery
- Commissioning stages
- Supporting tender reviews, risk identification, and technical reporting
- Providing input to planning and client-facing documentation
- Contributing to continuous improvement of design processes
- Assisting in the integration of AuraAI and other digital tools into project workflows
Qualifications & Experience
Technical & Educational Background
- Strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering and Design Engineering, with an ability to apply principles to complex building services and MEP projects
- Proficiency in Machine and Product Design, including experience in developing practical, maintainable solutions for construction and fit-out environments
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools for:
- 2D and 3D modelling
- Drawing production
- Discipline coordination
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; professional registration or progress toward chartership is beneficial
- Knowledge of relevant industry standards, building regulations, and MEP design best practices – experience with Tier 1 contractors or complex projects is advantageous
