Mechanical Design Engineer
Witney, Oxfordshire | £40,000 - £45,000
Work on high-performance engineered products. Take ownership from concept to production.
Orion Electrotech are partnered with an innovative engineering manufacturer operating within the high-performance automotive and motorsport sector. With a reputation for engineering excellence and customers across global performance-focused markets, the business is continuing to invest in new product development and is looking to strengthen its engineering team.
As a smaller, highly specialised business, engineers here have the opportunity to be genuinely involved in the entire product lifecycle. You'll work closely with manufacturing, prototyping, and production teams, giving you real ownership over projects and the chance to see your designs evolve from initial concept through to finished product.
This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, being hands-on with development work, and having a visible impact within a growing organisation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
