Mechanical Design Engineer Building Services
The Role
This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Design Engineer looking to progress their career while working on a diverse range of projects across sectors including education, commercial, retail, industrial, and leisure.
Working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary consultancy environment, you will gain exposure to a broad variety of projects and clients. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in designing building services systems that help buildings operate efficiently, sustainably, and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a design team delivering detailed mechanical building services designs.
- Liaise closely with internal and external project teams, including structural engineers, architects, surveyors, and contractors.
- Attend project and technical meetings.
- Ensure designs comply with current legislation, regulations, and health and safety requirements.
- Advise clients and project teams on energy efficiency, sustainability, and carbon reduction strategies.
- Design site-specific mechanical systems and equipment.
- Support and oversee the installation of building services systems.
- Specify maintenance and operational requirements for completed designs.
- Use industry-standard software, including CAD and BIM (Revit), to develop and coordinate designs.
- Carry out condition surveys and prepare technical reports with recommendations.

About You
We are seeking a motivated and technically capable individual who is keen to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking engineering consultancy.
Essential Requirements
- Degree-qualified (or higher) in Building Services Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience in a Mechanical Building Services Design role.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly to clients and project teams.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proactive approach to work, with a willingness to learn and develop professionally.

Desirable Requirements
- Working towards Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.
- Experience using industry-standard software such as IES, Hevacomp, AutoCAD, and Revit.
- Knowledge of sustainable design principles and low-carbon building services solutions.
