Mechanical Design Engineer

Based Corby, Northants

The Company

A well-established European leader in automated packaging line solutions with a worldwide footprint, the company works at the forefront of technical innovation across the food industry working to drive efficiency and consistent product quality excellence.

The company is looking to further develop its design and project team and seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to design solutions for customers primarily in the food industry. Reporting to the Head of Projects, you will be adept at building customer relationships, understanding customer requirements and designing customer-centric solutions with world-class machinery.

You will be joining a proven global leader with ambitions to increase its profile and reach with UK customers, many of whom have been customers for many years.

Responsibilities

  • Design and create mechanical components and systems using CAD software.
  • Lead the preparation of detailed drawings and specifications.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key clients, understanding how technology solutions can best address their business objectives and needs.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the business and in partner organizations to build customer-led solutions.
  • Ensure engineering safety compliance is at the heart of solution recommendations.
  • Support and guide resolutions to arising technical issues.
  • Take ownership of technical reporting and documentation.

Requirements

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years professional experience in mechanical design engineering.
  • Skilled and committed to building strong customer relationships.
  • Committed to working as part of a team and building effective cross-functional relationships.
  • Diligent and consistent attention to detail.
  • Proven track record in B2B technology engineering design (ideally in the food industry).
  • Proficient in CAD software (incl. SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Inventor).
  • Experience of product development and manufacturing environments.
  • Familiar with current best practice engineering standards (e.g. ISO, BS).

Salary

£45-55,000 + benefits
