Mechanical Design Engineer
Sittingbourne, Kent
£40,000 – £60,000 per annum
Our client is a well-established special purpose machinery manufacturer based in Sittingbourne. Due to continued growth, they are looking to expand their design team with a Mechanical Design Engineer.
You will take ownership of the mechanical design of automated equipment and associated components. The role involves creating 3D models and producing detailed 2D manufacturing drawings, working closely with the wider engineering and production teams on both standard and bespoke projects.

Key Responsibilities
- Design of automated equipment and mechanical assemblies
- Creation of 3D CAD models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings
- Application of materials knowledge, assembly tolerances and Design for Manufacture principles
- Liaising with suppliers, customers and internal teams
- Supporting the full design process from concept through to production
Candidate Requirements

- Proven experience designing automated equipment and engineering components
- Strong understanding of materials and assembly tolerances within a manufacturing environment
- Proficient in 3D design software (SolidWorks preferred), others considered
- Ability to produce accurate 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings
- Good communication skills when dealing with suppliers and customers
Package
- Salary: £40,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
