Overview

A specialist engineering consultancy based in Glasgow is seeking a Mechanical (HVAC) Building Services Design Engineer to join its multidisciplinary design team. The business delivers bespoke, turnkey solutions within highly regulated and technically demanding environments, working closely with leading end-user clients.

This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging HVAC projects, supporting senior engineers while continuing to develop your design, coordination, and project delivery skills across the full design-and-construct lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development of HVAC design solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams
  • Produce detailed design packages for HVAC systems, including ductwork, pipework, plumbing, and control systems
  • Assist with defining project requirements and delivering technically sound design solutions
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards, regulations, and project specifications
  • Contribute to design reviews and coordination activities
  • Support project delivery to agreed programmes and quality standards
  • Participate in site visits, design team meetings, and commissioning activities as required

Candidate Profile

  • Degree-qualified in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3+ years’ experience in building services design
  • Solid technical understanding of HVAC systems and applicable industry standards
  • Ability to think from first principles to develop efficient and well-considered design solutions
  • Familiarity with psychrometric calculations (training support available)
  • Developing commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within project teams
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Excel, Navisworks; working knowledge of Revit required
  • Full UK driving licence
