An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our thriving UK Medical Manufacturing Company.
The successful candidate will design new and innovative Medical Devices and be involved with the management of projects from conception, testing and qualification through to commercialisation and then into production support. The role will cover all aspects of mechanical design including Concepting, Computer Aided Design (CAD) work, analysis, prototyping, empirical methods and testing / verification activities.
Due to the nature of this role, we are seeking an individual who can work well within a team, communicate effectively at all levels, and has a hands-on approach. International travel may be required on occasions.
Essential Experience/Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in new product development, mechanical design and team working Experience of project team contribution to ensure timely and cost effective completion of projects, through activities such as project facilitation, project documentation including design briefs, risk analysis and verification tasks Experience in cross-functional working between departments such as Technical, Marketing/Sales, Tool Room, Quality and Manufacturing Experience of Siemens NX or similar CAD software and creating 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or an equivalent level qualification (or relevant experience with at least 2 years’ experience in a related engineering role, ideally in medical or other regulated sector)

Desirable Experience/Qualifications: Knowledge of design for high and low volume injection moulding including design for manufacture and assembly Knowledge of electronics design and embedded software development Experience within the medical device industry, with knowledge of MDD 93/42/EEC, EU MDR (2017/745), ISO 13485 and FDA Design Control Knowledge and understanding of BS EN 60601 and associated medical equipment standards Systems Engineering design experience, ideally within the medical device industry or other regulated industry Experience in devolving a system requirement to a set of subsystem requirements described by architectural diagrams and interface descriptions Experience in supporting systems engineering investigations. Breadth of understanding across all engineering domains, i.e. electrical, mechanical, software Experience with outsourcing, specifically using Far Eastern suppliers Experience using Teamcenter or other similar Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) System Knowledge of BS8888 and Geometric Tolerancing

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week Monday to Friday 09:00am – 17:30pm (flexibility can be given to the right candidate)
