Highly Skilled Mechanical Design Engineer – London-Based Role

About the Role
The ideal candidate will:
- Create, draft, and design product layouts and schemes using customer specifications and recommendations.
- Test products and make necessary adjustments.
- Examine broken products and resolve issues for future designs.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled professional with a minimum of 10 years' experience in mechanical building services design, requiring a leading role in delivering complex, technically challenging projects from concept through to completion.
You will work closely with engineers, project managers, clients, and site teams to develop efficient, compliant, and high-quality mechanical design solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed mechanical building services designs from concept to construction.
- Prepare technical drawings, calculations, specifications, and design documentation.
- Coordinate mechanical services with multidisciplinary design and construction teams.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant regulations, British Standards, and client requirements.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including resolving design and installation issues.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and site teams to ensure smooth and successful project delivery.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Conducting product testing.
- Assessing feasibility of product design.
- Reviewing defunct products for future improvements.

- Ventilation systems
- Air conditioning and environmental control systems
- Mechanical control panels
- Associated controls cabling
- Plumbing and public health systems
- Site temporary mechanical installations
Requirements / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years' of industry experience (preferably 10+ years in mechanical building services design).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical parts and computer-aided design (CAD).

About You
To succeed in this role, you will have: ✅ At least 10 years' experience in mechanical building services design. ✅ Strong experience delivering commercial and high-end residential building services projects. ✅ Excellent technical knowledge of HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning), plumbing, and associated mechanical systems. ✅ In-depth understanding of current regulations, British Standards, and industry best practices. ✅ Proven ability to coordinate complex designs within multidisciplinary teams. ✅ Strong communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills. ✅ A proactive, detail-focused approach to design delivery.
