Mechanical Design Engineer – Decarbonisation & Energy Infrastructure

Design the future. Deliver real carbon reduction. Engineer lasting impact.

Are you an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer looking to work on projects that genuinely make a difference?

We're looking for a talented engineer to join our growing design team, delivering innovative decarbonisation and energy infrastructure projects across complex, live operational environments. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge energy technologies while helping organisations achieve ambitious net-zero goals.

From large-scale energy centres and heat pumps to district heating, chilled water systems and smart building controls, you'll play a key role in developing high-quality engineering solutions that improve performance, resilience and sustainability.

If you're passionate about solving complex engineering challenges, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects that have a measurable environmental impact, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Working On

Our diverse portfolio includes major carbon reduction and infrastructure projects such as:

  • Energy Centres
  • Heat Pumps
  • Combined Heat & Power (CHP)
  • Boilers and Chillers
  • Steam, HTHW, LTHW and Chilled Water Systems
  • Domestic Water and Borehole Systems
  • Advanced Pumping Systems
  • HV/LV Electrical Infrastructure
  • Standby Generation, UPS and Battery Storage
  • Building Management Systems (BMS) and Smart Controls

The Role

As Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll take ownership of mechanical design development while managing and reviewing work produced by external design consultants through to RIBA Stage 4.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
