About Evolito
Evolito develops and manufactures class-leading, lightweight, high-power, and high-torque-density electric propulsion systems for a range of aerospace markets, including EVTOL, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and General Aviation. As well as ultra-high performance, low-weight electric motors and controllers, Evolito specialises in high integrity, bespoke battery systems for the aerospace and defence markets.
The team is scaling rapidly and has ambitious growth plans over the next twelve to eighteen months.
About the Role
As part of our current high-growth phase, we are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to be responsible for leading the design and implementation of Evolito’s electric motor range on key customer projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Detailed design of 3D CAD models and drawings using best practice geometric tolerances, key characteristics, and drawing standards
- Providing detailed input to the team to ensure the overall design meets requirements for functionality and manufacture
- Working with the CAE team to analyse and optimise designs for stress, thermals, fluid flows, etc.
- Working with the Systems Team to generate powertrain configurations within a wide variety of aircraft
- Supporting the development of manufacturing processes and novel designs for new technology applications and materials
- Supporting DFMEAs and completing actions required to mitigate risks
- Liaising with key suppliers and customers on design and development issues, resolving to the optimal solution and understanding the compromises

Skills and Experience Required
- Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering with previous, proven experience in a design and development environment
- Experienced user of CAD software packages with the ability to create design concepts and fully dimensioned drawings working to BS8888 with best practice geometric tolerances and key characteristics
- The ability to undertake and interpret mechanical FEA studies and propose solutions/improvements to design issues
- Experience with drawing control systems such as PDM
- A strong mechanical or electrical engineering background, but more importantly, be able to apply knowledge to real-world situations
- Creative problem solver, with an analytical approach to implementation
- Familiar with FMEAs and robust engineering practices
- Good understanding of materials and associated mechanical properties and processing
- Confident with customers and suppliers, able to detail requirements and understand issues
- A flexible approach to work with the desire to thrive in a dynamic, fast-moving environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- UK driving licence and be available to support visits to customer sites.
