Express Recruitment are excited to be representing a special-purpose machinery manufacturer based in Nottingham who are looking to hire a Mechanical Design Project Engineer on a full time, permanent basis to join their team of project and design professionals.
Their successful candidate will provide specialist mechanical engineering solutions and design for a wide range of clients. They will also attend meetings with the Project Manager and wider Design team, both internally and externally, to discuss current company projects. They will ensure all work completed remains to client specification whilst complying with safe work practises and company standards.
Due to a requirement of the role being travelling to customer sites on occasions, a full clean UK driving licence is essential to apply for this role.
In return, they are offering a competitive salary of up to c£45,000 per annum D.O.E alongside a generous benefits package. This is based on working 37.5 hours per week as standard. They do offer overtime with their rates being as follows: the first two hours are paid at a standard hourly rate, with every hour paid at 1.3x or 1.2x (weekends) the standard rate on a week-to-week basis.

Skills & Experience
- Experience using 3D CAD including designing machines, jig fixtures, and/or mechanisms is essential, with SolidWorks experience being highly desirable
- Knowledge of applying tolerances and preparing detailed drawings and schematics is essential
- Experience designing special purpose machinery is highly desirable
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar, or an HND in Mechanical Engineering with industry experience is essential
- Full, clean UK driving licence
Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering solutions and designs for all the company’s products
- Take responsibility for mechanical aspects of projects from conception to commissioning
- Generate project related documents using software packages
- Attend internal and external meetings (project and client related) including travelling to customer sites when required to provide technical support and design expertise
- Design initial concepts including input into costing and timescales reviews
- Adhere to client specifications whilst complying with current safe working practises and company standards

Job Location
Nottingham, Nottinghamshire
Salary
Up to c£45k per annum D.O.E, overtime available (paid 1.33x for every hour over the first two hours overtime on a week-to-week basis)
Job Type and Hours
- Full Time, Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week structured as follows:
- Monday + Tuesday: 8:00am – 5:00pm (30 Min Lunch)
- Wednesday + Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm (1 Hour Lunch)
- Friday: 8:00am – 12:30pm
