Job Title: Mechanical & Electrical Operative

Location: Wallingford, Oxfordshire & Site Based

Salary: £32,500 per annum

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 48 hours per week. Flexibility to support operational requirements, business travel and occasional overnight stays may be required

Full Training, Company Van And PPE Provided.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical & Electrical Operative to join our growing team based in Wallingford. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and build a long-term career within the utilities and water industry. Working on a variety of mechanical and electrical installation, maintenance and refurbishment projects, you will play a key role in supporting essential water infrastructure across the region. This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced environment where a strong work ethic, commitment to safety and a "right first time" approach are essential.

G-Stow are part of SSI within the South Staffordshire Group, a 3,000-employee organisation behind South Staffs Water, Cambridge Water and a range of businesses supporting the UK's utilities sector. The successful candidate will be provided with a company van, full PPE and all the equipment required to carry out their role safely and effectively.

The Role

  • Installing and maintaining a wide range of mechanical apparatus and associated equipment.
  • Installing, maintaining and repairing water-related pumping plant, pipework and associated control equipment.
  • Working on pumping infrastructure including split case pumps, vertical turbine pumps and associated assets.
  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs to ensure equipment operates efficiently.
  • Supporting project delivery across a variety of customer sites.
  • Working in accordance with Health & Safety policies, procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Working closely with colleagues and customers to deliver high-quality solutions.

What You'll Need

  • Experience in a mechanical, electrical or engineering environment would be advantageous; however, we are equally interested in candidates who can demonstrate a positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn, as full training will be provided for the right individual.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • The ability to demonstrate initiative and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality work.
  • A full, clean UK driving licence is essential.
  • Flexibility to work additional hours and travel to customer sites as required.
