Job Opportunity: Mechanical Engineer at Winthrop Technologies

Winthrop Technologies is Europe’s only dedicated data centre delivery partner, offering full turnkey solutions from design through to construction and commissioning. Headquartered in Dublin, we deliver projects across Europe and have become the most trusted name in our sector.

We are currently seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our project team in Blyth, United Kingdom. This role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of Mechanical works, ensuring activities are carried out safely, on programme, and in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and delivery of Mechanical works across the project lifecycle
  • Review and interpret drawings, specifications, and technical submittals
  • Assist with the implementation of site QA/QC processes and ensure works are completed to required standards
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, supervisors, and the wider project team on daily mechanical site activities
  • Monitor site progress and report on programme status to senior engineers and management
  • Ensure all mechanical documentation, including technical submittals and safety documentation, is maintained and up to date
  • Attend Site Meetings, Engineering Reviews, and Planning Meetings
  • Liaise with the design team to request and track construction information (RFIs)
  • Assist with installation checks, inspections, and verification of mechanical systems on site
  • Support commercial management by tracking variations and assisting with progress claims
  • Identify and assist in resolving technical, design, and coordination issues
  • Assist with the management and close-out of mechanical snagging items

Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or similar discipline
  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience within the mechanical construction sector
  • Experience working on mechanical systems such as HVAC, piping, and associated services
  • Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and site practices
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a project team and coordinate with subcontractors
  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical systems and installation methodologies
  • Experience in data centre, industrial, or mission-critical projects is advantageous
