DEPARTMENT: Rescue Boat Services

DIVISION: North Star Shipping

LOCATION: Blaikies Quay

HOURS: 39 hours per week

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

To service and repair of our fleet of outboard and inboard diesel and petrol Fast Rescue Crafts

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:

Report directly to the Vessel Support Manager and ultimately to Group Technical Manager.

KEY WORK AREAS:

  • Service outboard and inboard diesel and petrol Fast Rescue Craft
  • Repair outboard and inboard diesel and petrol Fast Rescue Craft
  • Ensuring all shipboard mechanical operated and maintained in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Keeping company approved Planned Maintenance / Purchasing / systems are kept fully up to date
  • All material used for the Job is allocated against that Job
  • To ensure all appropriate PTW’s, Isolations, Risk Assessments, Method Statements are in accordance with the tasks in hand. Stop The Job must be initiated should any unsafe practices be observed.
  • Carry out inflatable & fibre glass repairs to rescue boats when required
  • Deliveries to and collections of items from our fleet of vessels in Aberdeen Harbour
  • General duties in our Rescue Boat workshop and on board our vessels while in port
  • Any other reasonable task requested by your line manager, senior manager or director
  • Providing out-of-hours service, as and when required

  • Daily contact with colleagues and management at the Rescue Boat Department
  • Liaising with customers, clients and crew members on a regular basis

QUALIFICATIONS/TRAINING:

  • Standard Grade pass or equivalent in Maths and English
  • Time served Mechanic
  • Full driving licence
  • Computer literate to a basic standard
