Mechanical Engineer – Subsea Product Design | 12-Month Contract | Barrow-in-Furness (Hybrid)
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join a dynamic engineering team focused on the design and development of high-performance products for demanding offshore environments. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative engineering solutions supporting advanced subsea applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop mechanical components, pressure housings, sealing systems, and connector assemblies using advanced CAD tools.
- Perform mechanical, thermal, and pressure simulations using FEA tools to validate product performance.
- Select suitable materials and coatings for harsh operating environments.
- Produce engineering deliverables including 3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), technical specifications, and test reports.
- Support prototype development, qualification testing, factory acceptance testing, and product validation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including electrical, manufacturing, quality, project management, and verification teams.
- Participate in design reviews, engineering change management, root cause analysis (RCA), and FMEA activities.
- Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and engineering best practices.
- Provide engineering support throughout the product lifecycle, including manufacturing and operational phases.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical design for high-reliability or industrial products.
- Strong proficiency with 3D CAD software and FEA tools.
- Experience producing detailed engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, pressure-rated designs, sealing technologies, and material selection.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Familiarity with engineering standards such as API, ASME, ISO, IEC, or IEEE is desirable.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
