Position: Senior FreeCAD Mechanical Engineer
Type: Contract
Compensation: $30 - $100/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10-40 hrs/week
Role Responsibilities
- Create, modify, and validate detailed parametric CAD models in FreeCAD to specified project requirements.
- Develop and optimize mechanical assemblies, leveraging best practices in assembly design and component integration.
- Apply rigorous Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) principles to ensure manufacturability and quality.
- Generate clear, precise technical drawings and documentation for engineering review and downstream processes.
- Conduct thorough engineering QA reviews of CAD models and drawings to identify, communicate, and help resolve issues.
- Utilize Python scripting for CAD automation tasks, streamlining repetitive or complex modeling operations.

Requirements
- Have strong relevant experience in mechanical engineering, product design, or industrial engineering with a focus on parametric CAD modeling.
- Advanced proficiency in FreeCAD or equivalent parametric CAD platforms.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design fundamentals, including GD&T and DFM best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to produce comprehensive technical drawings and documentation for manufacturing and assembly.
- Experience conducting engineering QA and verifying model integrity and compliance with specifications.
- Proficiency in Python scripting for CAD model automation is highly advantageous.
